Westhampton Beach High School junior Lilah Caputo recently performed with the prestigious New York State Band Directors Association High School Honor Band in Syracuse.

Caputo, a clarinetist, was selected based on her score at the spring 2023 NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival and teacher recommendation.

As part of the experience, Caputo joined over 110 students from across the state to perform challenging music with a high degree of musicianship. They were led by Dr. Shayna Stahl, a Long Island native and current director of athletic bands at the University of Kentucky.

Caputo said she left inspired and rejuvenated as a musician and made some new friends along the way.

The Westhampton Beach School District congratulates Caputo on a job well done.
