Westhampton Beach Elementary School’s Odyssey of the Mind team recently competed in the Odyssey of the Mind state finals at SUNY Binghamton. They proudly placed sixth.
The seven fifth-graders procured the placement after competing against 18 teams from across the state. Led by coach and teacher Lynne Marshall, the team used their creativity, problem-solving and acting skills to formulate a long-term solution to a problem created by competition organizers. This year’s problem required the team to create an original performance depicting Leonardo Da Vinci in his workshop and include a patron character that presented Leonardo with a problem to solve.
The Westhampton Beach School District congratulates team members Ava Carvis, Ava Combuechen, Morgan DeVerna, Hailey Groth, Rhylee Kirchner, Emma O’Came and Tessa Mongelluzzo.
