Westhampton Beach High School students Evan Lockwood and Matthew Daleo received a high honors award at the Long Island Science Congress Senior Division Awards Ceremony on May 20. It was the second highest award bestowed during the event. The pair earned the recognition for their research project, “Biodiversity of Pre-Cretaceous Vertebrates at the Lance Formation, Wyoming, USA.” The sophomores, who have been working on their project under the direction of science teacher Dianna Gobler, collected fossil samples they used for their research during a school trip to Wyoming with science teacher Rob Coleman.
