This year, Westhampton Beach Elementary School adopted a new character
education program, The Leader in Me. The new program provides
comprehensive leadership activities and challenges that are woven into
curriculum. The goal is to teach students to understand and practice the
“seven habits of happy kids.” The program, which is transforming
schools across the country, is all-encompassing and introduces language
that is incorporated into daily routines. Through the activities,
students will learn and understand the seven habits, including: be
proactive; begin with the end in mind; put first things first; think
win-win; seek first to understand, then be understood; synergize; and
sharpen the saw. Learn more in this short video.
